Indie Edinburgh started out on Cockburn Street as the Cockburn Street Market at number 21 in the early 1970s.
Original owners Maggie and Thom rented out stalls to an eclectic mix of other small businesses selling a myriad of products including clothing, jewellery, incense and records.
Cockburn Street became known as Edinburgh's Carnaby Street and was a destination for hippies, bohemians and artists. The street was filled with independently owned businesses.
Many wonderful shops and people have come and gone from the street over the years but the independent spirit has remained.
The Cockburn Street Market later became Pie In The Sky and has been a Cockburn Street fixture ever since.
Pie In The Sky has evolved over the years as have our customers, each generation remembering Cockburn Street and the many amazing shops differently.

PIE IN THE SKY - 47 Cockburn Street
New and vintage clothing from UK brands including a bestselling range of dungarees and pinafores and reworked vintage garments. Jewellery and accessories from small businesses all over the world. A heavy dose of pop culture inspired merchandise from prints and cards, keyrings and fridge magnets to pins and patches sourced from small makers in the UK and further afield. We pride ourself in offering our customers interesting and exciting pieces that you won't find just everywhere.
EDEN - 37 Cockburn Street
Eden has been open on Cockburn Street since 1996 and stocks the most wonderful pieces for your home and lifestyle. An extensive choice of ceramics and crockery, lampshades and soft furnishing, pots and planters, home scents and candles to choose from. Eden also has an array of products to help you reduce your plastic usage and if you're in need of a little R&R our tempting selection of bath and body products has something for everyone. We're also proud to be home to a large collection of fun furry friends by Jellycat.
COOKIE - 29a Cockburn Street
Cookie opened it's doors in 2003. We stock a range of beautiful vintage inspired clothing by small labels. A mix of occasion ware and daytime essentials alongside Edinburgh's best range of hosiery and socks from King Louie, Circus, Pretty Vacant, One Hundred Stars, Gipsy Tights and Mistral. Our cabinet is full of gorgeous jewellery and hair accessories from Pico Copenhagen and Estella Bartlett.
MYSA - 31-33 Cockburn Street
Mysa opened in 2017 and quickly established itself as a destination for fabulous interior and culinary inspiration. Prints by local artists Diedododa, East End Press and Cat Outram sit alongside artisanal foods, statement tableware and an assortment of fascinating coffee table books. An interesting variety of pots and plants large and small, soft furnishings and home accessories to style your own space, and bath, body and beauty products to die for from locals Dook and London makers Sknfed and Things of Nature.
